Recipe
⏱ 40 min Serves 4 9 ingredients
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs pork shoulder or pork butt, cut into long strips
- 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing rice wine or dry sherry
- 1 tsp five-spice powder
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Directions
- In a bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice wine, five-spice powder, sesame oil, and garlic to make the marinade.
- Place pork strips in a zip-lock bag or shallow dish, pour marinade over them, seal or cover, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with foil, placing a wire rack on top. Lay marinated pork strips on the rack and reserve leftover marinade.
- Roast pork for 20 minutes, then flip the strips, brush generously with reserved marinade, and roast another 15 minutes.
- Brush one final coat of honey mixed with a splash of soy sauce over the pork and broil on high for 2 to 3 minutes until the edges char slightly and caramelize.
- Remove from oven, let rest 5 minutes, then slice and serve over rice or with steamed buns.
