Recipe
⏱ 110 min Serves 4 8 ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 lbs pork shoulder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Directions
- Cut the pork shoulder into 2-inch chunks and toss with salt, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and oregano until evenly coated.
- Heat the oil in a large heavy pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, then brown the pork pieces on all sides in batches, about 3 minutes per side.
- Pour in the orange juice, then reduce heat to low, cover, and let everything simmer for about 90 minutes until the pork is very tender.
- Remove the lid and raise the heat to medium-high, stirring occasionally, until the liquid cooks off and the pork starts to crisp and caramelize on the edges, about 15 minutes.
- Use two forks to roughly shred and pull the pork apart right in the pot, then serve in tortillas or over rice with your favorite toppings.
